Approach to Estate Planning Process

A keen attention to the client´s wishes is the guiding principle of my estate planning practice, and I appreciate the importance of cultivating relationships over time.

I believe that a good estate planner provides legal counsel (and documents), and serves as a careful listener, facilitator, and sounding board. He or she should be up–to–date on the latest tax law and estate planning instruments; attentive to nuance and family dynamics; value confidentiality; and easily translate complex legal issues into lay terms for you. He or she should solicit your wishes and never dictate the distribution of assets.

In our work together, I will consult closely with you and then establish the proper estate plan, draft the appropriate documents, determine the proper fiduciary (or trust officer), and provide implementation.

Continuity is an important part of my practice. While the estate documents I draft are designed to accommodate unforeseen financial and lifecycle changes (the addition or loss of assets or family members), I remain available to revise documents as circumstances warrant.

Clients benefit from my extensive experience in the trust industry and over twelve years advising clients directly in estate planning. My track record of expertise and thoroughness speaks for itself: I have never had an estate plan enter litigation.

I pride myself on my responsiveness, am available to meet on nights or weekends.  In my own office, an assistant provides administrative support and I can also offer the services of a paralegal for court Petitions or Probate.

My approach is designed to lift the burden from you, bringing you security and peace of mind, by making an often—difficult topic doable and preserving the transfer of wealth to those most important to you.
